Emerging Program

Emerging Program 2023/2024

The Basketball Tasmania Emerging Program is designed to provide a development pathway for girls and boys who trialled for the 2023/24 FDP and SDP programs but were not selected for this year’s intake. 

Over the course of the program, participants will be exposed to high-level coaching and practice sessions. The aim is that these extra practice sessions will help close the gap and set athletes up for future success in next year’s FDP/SDP trials. The program will follow curriculum that is closely aligned to Basketball Tasmania’s SDP and FDP programs, which utilizes innovative skill development practices and exposes athletes to contemporary basketball concepts.

 The program will also enable Basketball Tasmania to closely monitor the progress of more athletes, with the potential for Emerging athletes to be “called up” into FDP/SDP if they progress well and a position becomes available.
