referee & OFFICIAL Education
Referees & Technical Officials are a crucial part of the sport & becoming a referee, score table official or a statistician is a great way to learn more about the game.
With the high amount of competitions being held throughout our State, whether at your local association or representative basketball, there are always opportunities available if you’re looking to become a referee, score table official or statistician.
If your interest lies in becoming a Technical official, courses are available throughout the year around your local associations.
If you are interested in becoming a referee, firstly you would need to attend a Community (level 0) course through your local association and once completed you can then start to referee in your domestic competitions.
From there your referee pathway starts. You may want to referee Junior representative basketball (TJBL Nth & South, BTAS State Championships) and even aim for NBL1.
From there you may even join the WNBL & NBL panels.
BTAS will regularly hold courses in conjunction with the Local Associations throughout the year so keep an eye out on our site and social media for upcoming courses & clinics.
