AUSSIE HOOPS PROGRAM
Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official junior game development program for children aged 5–10 years. Aussie Hoops enables participants of all abilities the opportunity to learn basketball in a structured, inclusive and safe environment, developing physical fitness, social skills and an understanding of the sport while having fun.
The Aussie Hoops program is delivered in each school term, delivered by nationally accredited coaches, with a focus on participation and inclusiveness.

Basketball Tasmania has remained committed to supporting Mosaic, a National Disability Insurance Scheme provider. Clients from this service provider receive ongoing basketball skill development through our coaches providing on court coaching sessions.
Ivor Burge Basketball
Basketball Tasmania Mens Team for People with and Intellectual Disability continue be a slam dunk when it comes to flying the flag for sport in Tasmania. Over many years players and coaches have received call ups to national teams, won national awards and even been recognised at the Tasmanian Human Rights Awards.
At the 2018 Basketball Australia Under 20 and Ivor Burge Basketball Championships the team came away with a bronze medal, defeating ACT 81 to 66. To come third at a National Championships is an impressive feat, but the team was also awarded by Basketball Australia Kim Larkin Fair Play Award, recognising the players, staff and supporters that show outstanding sportsmanship in the Ivor Burge Championship. And to make a fairy tale finish complete one of the young guns of the team, Dylan Pace, was award the tournaments most valuable player. the teams 2018 efforts were backed up in 2019, with another Bronze Medal.
Whilst the 2018 results for this team of hard working athletes and knowledgeable and dedicated staff are outstanding when you look at the bigger picture their culture of success, first started over 20 years, is truly amazing, and worthy to be judged against any of Tasmanians sports teams.
In the past four years this Tasmanian team has won three bronze medals at the Australian Championships, two tournament most valuable players (the 2016 winner was team Captain Bruce Stanley) , the Kim Larkin Fair Play Award and had three Australian national team call ups – Bruce Stanley, Josh Clearly and Dylan Pace, with Clearly and Pace winning bronze medals at international events with the Boomerangs, the Australian National Team.
Team Coach Odette Seabourne was justifiably proud of the team and its achievements. ”What seats us apart from others is the players feel as if we are a family and the actually play for each other and never want to let a family member down.”

- $10 training fee (this covers hall hire, lights)
It is a requirement to attend all trainings, if unable please contact coach with a PHONE CALL to explain why you are unable to attend. IT IS ALSO A REQUIREMENT THAT YOU ARRIVE AT TRAINING ON TIME, it is very disruptive to those that arrived on time if you are late and we have to wait for you to warm up …..If you have to strap anything, ankles etc., please arrive early enough to do this so as training can still begin on time
