NBL1 (South)

The NBL1 South is a semi-professional basketball league in Victoria and Tasmania. It comprises both a men’s and women’s competition. In 2019, Basketball Victoria partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to create NBL1. NBL1 South was the lone conference in 2019, with North, Central, West and East joining over the proceeding three years.

Hobart Chargers

The Hobart Chargers are Southern Tasmania’s Premier basketball team with the Women’s and Men’s teams competing in the NBL1 competition in 2023 and beyond. Playing their home games at venues around Greater Hobart, the Chargers represent a history of success, while aspiring for an even brighter future. 

Launceston Tornadoes

The Launceston Tornadoes Basketball Club Inc, is a Women’s Basketball Club, which was formed in 1993. It was established to provide an opportunity for local female basketball players the opportunity to play in an elite league and to achieve their full potential. The club aims to inspire elite basketball with a community heart. The success of the club has allowed for a blossoming women’s basketball community across Launceston and the state alike. 

North West Thunder

The North West Thunder is the representative basketball team for the northwestern region of Tasmania. Competing in the NBL1 the NW Thunder have a proud history and boast a strong core for their future. Playing games at the Mazda BT 30 Stadium in Ulverstone the NW Thunder showcase players from around the region, providing a platform for local juniors to aspire.
