The Basketball Tasmania Tri Series allows the players from the State Development and Future Development Programs to put into practice the skills they have been learning in their programs.


Played over three weekends the Tri Series gives our state best players the chance to shine, but also allow coaches and referees the opportunity to work with the best junior athletes.

The State Junior Championships are the pinnacle events on Basketball Tasmania's calendar of events for the year. with Constituent Association Member glory on the line in the Under 10 - Under 18 Championships.

Our school based competitions are the most participated events on the Basketball Tasmania Calendar. Annually played in Devonport the College Championships showcase our best older athletes, many with NBL1 experience.


Regional Primary and High School events are played in North, North West and South  Tasmania before coming to together for State finals.

The Basketball Tasmania Senior State League is the premier competition for senior mens and womens teams in Tasmania. Played over two weekend tournament style days the top four teams in the mens and womens competitions gather at the Basketball Tasmania Gala Weekend to fight for State glory and be crowned as the primer senior basketball team in Tasmania.

Held annually in November the Basketball Tasmania Gala Weekend provides a great mix of on-court action with the finals for the Basketball Tasmania State Wide League, off court education and a celebration of the high achievers within the sport.

The Launceston Classic is Tasmanians largest basketball event for juniors. Run over the Queen Birthday weekend (June 8-9) this Basketball Tasmania delivered event provides a great weekend of basketball and socialising.


It is an exciting time for Tasmanian mens and womens teams with the launch of the NBL1 competition with Launceston, Hobart and NW Tasmania teams.

With high-quality senior basketball games being played across the State get along and see a game!

BTAS State 3x3 Tournaments


Event 3 : Sunday 15 February 2020 - Launceston


The competitions offered are U11s, U13s, U15s, U17s, Opens, with 2 divisions in each age group/gender. We will also look to include a Masters’ competitions for the event featuring 35s & Over, 45s & Over, 55s & Over

U11s Division 1 & 2 (athletes born 2009 & 2010)
U13s Division 1 & 2 (athletes born 2007 & 2008)
U15s Division 1 & 2 (athletes born 2005 & 2006)
U17s Division 1 & 2 (athletes born 2003 & 2004)

2020 Basketball Tasmania Pre Season Tournament

All teams are invited to enter the 2020 Basketball Tasmania Pre Season Tournament to be conducted on Sat 29 Feb & Sun 1 Mar 2020


The Pre Season Tournament will be open to age groups from U12-U18 in both Div 1 and Div 2.

Kingborough Huon Basketball Association 3X3 and Maccas on Your Team Camp


To stay active during the school holidays there are some great activities happening at the Kingbrough Huon Basketball Association 

BTAS and Kings Macca’s On Your Team Basketball Camp

The camp will be held at Kingborough Sports Centre Thursday 30th January 2020 9.15am – 3.15pm, recommended for ages 6 to 13


Our Holiday Camp offers Junior Basketballers the opportunity to develop their skills while having fun with  Kings players and coaches will be running the sessions. The camp cost is $60 with each camp registration includes a Molten Basketball. To register click here

Kingborough Huon Basketball Association 3X3

A 3x3 Tournament for boys, girls and mixed teams aged Under 12 - Under 18 will be held Friday 31st January commencing at 10.00am . Teams of 4, with each team entery costing $100. To register your team click here
