BTAS USA Tour 2023
In December 2023, Basketball Tasmania sent a tour group to the USA.
The group of 46, which consisted of 3 x Teams, Coaching Staff and Supporters travelled throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. They took part in games against High-School Teams, watched College/NBA games and experienced day-to-day life in the USA.
Some highlights of the trip included:
– Practicing in the Charlotte Hornets NBA training centre, followed by the opportunity to walk on the main court and then attending the Charlotte Hornets Vs Miami Heat game (where athletes observed pre-game routines and took part in player introductions).
– Spending time in Charleston, South Carolina with Tasmanian athlete Reyne Smith.
– College tours of Clemson, Duke, University of North Carolina, Charleston, UNC Charlotte (where Australian HC Aaron Fearne provided the group with a personalised tour of facilities and opportunity to watch practice).
Every two years Basketball Tasmania offers a USA Tour to its SDP athletes and families. Keep an eye out for details on the next trip!
