Basketball Tasmania has formed a new strategic partnership with AUSA Hoops, aimed at enhancing opportunities for Tasmanian basketball athletes and coaches to explore US college pathways.
Through this collaboration, AUSA Hoops and Basketball Tasmania will deliver a range of pathway-focused initiatives, including educational seminars, talent identification opportunities, and broader support to help athletes and coaches engage with the US college system.

They bring deep experience and networks in the college basketball system and this partnership ensures our members can access that knowledge in a way that is practical and athlete-focused,” Ben Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Basketball Tasmania, said.

We’ve always been impressed by the calibre of athletes and coaches coming out of the state, and we’re looking forward to working together to support and guide the next generation as they explore college opportunities,” Ed Summers, General Manager of AUSA Hoops added.
Tasmania has firmly established itself as a breeding ground for emerging basketball talent, with a growing number of athletes turning local opportunities into international pathways.
“Tasmania continues to produce talented players including Lachlan Brewer, Aiden Gibson and Ronan Parker who each had their own AUSA journey to a US college scholarship. We’re excited to deepen our connection to the state and help guide the next wave of athletes. There is enormous potential across Tasmania and we’re committed to supporting those ready to take the next step,” Jordan Mullan, Director of Recruiting at AUSA Hoops said.
“This agreement complements the work we are doing within our high performance programs. It helps close the knowledge gap for athletes and coaches and brings in expertise from a trusted operator in the US college space,” Nic Martin, Basketball Tasmania’s Development Manager said.
The partnership will see AUSA Hoops work closely with Basketball Tasmania with initiatives across the state beginning in the near future. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to long-term development and increasing opportunities for Tasmanian athletes and coaches.
